A visit to the Regional Park of Migliarino San Rossore in Italy

It was a beautiful, sunny day in Italy when my family and I decided to stop by the Regional Park of Migliarino San Rossore. Located just outside of Pisa, this vast park is home to hiking trails, picnic grounds, and stunning views overlooking the river Arno and the city of Pisa. Here are some of my favorite photos from the time we spent at this awesome place!

Where is the Regional Park?
The park is situated outside of Pisa, which means it's not too far away from Florence. It's approximately 120 kilometers, a journey that would take around 2 hours and 30 minutes without traffic. If you are arriving by train, you will need to switch trains for about 10 kilometers before arriving at the station closest to the park. There are also buses that run up to the park. The best way to get there, however, is by car. As long as you have access to a car or rented vehicle, it should be fairly easy to get there.

What can you do in this park?
One thing that is for sure about this park is that you will have a lot of nature experiences at your fingertips. There are a number of footpaths and trails for both easy walks and long treks alike. If you're lucky, you may even spot some wildlife on your walk. Most of the paths wind through old chestnut woods which is what makes up most of this region. These trees provide their own ecosystem with mosses, lichens, flowers, spiders and more living amongst them.

Are there specific hours?
There are no specific hours, so visitors can come and go as they please. However, if you are visiting this park with a limited amount of time or would like to find a less crowded spot, it is best to plan your visit for one of two times during the day: either very early in the morning or just before sunset.

How much does it cost?
The Regional Park of Migliarino San Rossore is open year-round and there are three admission prices depending on where you live. For Europeans, it costs 5 Euros; for those who reside outside of Europe, it costs 20 Euros. There are discounts available as well if you plan on visiting more than one day. If you're interested in getting your hands dirty and doing some volunteering with the botanical garden, they offer reduced rates as well!
