You Can Survive Without a Car in These 3 Cities

While some people depend on their cars, others get by just fine without owning one. If you live in or are visiting one of these three cities, your trip will be so much easier and less stressful if you don’t have to worry about getting around in your car. (Here’s why.)

New York City

New York City will serve as our starting point. You truly don’t need a car in a city with one of the most well-known and effective subway systems in the whole world. There’s really no incentive to purchase one, especially considering how difficult it can be to find parking in Manhattan. However, if you want to take your kids on a family outing or enjoy some outdoor activities, consider renting a car for the day. Washington D.C.: Cars are not necessary when you live in Washington D.C., unless you want to venture outside the beltway into Virginia or Maryland–or head westward through Fairfax County toward Reston or Great Falls National Park–you’ll need a vehicle at some point during your stay there. But other than that? Nope!

Vienna

In fact, Vienna is one of several European towns with amazing train systems. By just boarding a train, you may go to the majority of the city’s main locations swiftly and with great enjoyment. I would definitely not recommend renting a car when living in Vienna. Paris: The metro system is incredibly efficient and can take you anywhere you need to be, from the Louvre to Notre Dame Cathedral.

Despite its reputation as a stunning city with distinctive European design, Barcelona really shares a lot with New York City in terms of its subway system. A automobile is utterly superfluous in this city because of the incredibly rapid and effective train network system. The metro operates on most major lines from 6:00 am to 2:00 am on weekdays (7:00am to 2:00am on Saturday) so you can get anywhere at anytime without much hassle. What’s more, there are two types of ticket available for use; one-time tickets that give you unlimited access for an hour or day or season tickets that allow unlimited access over four months. Both are priced very reasonably and a great value considering how easy it is to get around by public transportation.
