If you’re going to write about Orlando, you have to cover Disney World and the Orange County Convention Center, right? Those are the only two places worth talking about in Orlando if you’re writing an article on travel, right? Wrong! Although it’s true that most tourists head straight to those attractions, there are plenty of other things in this city that are well worth visiting—even if you aren’t traveling. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Orlando
Orlando is a big city with plenty of outdoor activities for locals and tourists alike. The theme parks are certainly a major attraction, but what about all of that nature around Orlando? There’s much more than just Disney! Here are some of our favorite things to do outside the theme parks:
1) Head over to the Okeeheelee Nature Preserve and take a hike on one of their many trails.
2) Visit the St. Johns River where you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, or simply taking in the scenery.
3) Pack up a picnic and head out to Lake Griffin State Park for a day of boating and hiking through beautiful forests
4) Experience wildlife firsthand at Gatorland- get up close to these iconic Florida animals in their natural habitat.

Orlando is often thought of as a tourist destination and little else. But, in reality, there are plenty of things to do here—especially for nightlife lovers.
