If you’re going to write about Orlando, you have to cover Disney World and the Orange County Convention Center, right? Those are the only two places worth talking about in Orlando if you’re writing an article on travel, right? Wrong! Although it’s true that most tourists head straight to those attractions, there are plenty of other things in this city that are well worth visiting—even if you aren’t traveling. Here are three of them.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Orlando
Orlando is a big city with plenty of outdoor activities for locals and tourists alike. The theme parks are certainly a major attraction, but what about all of that nature around Orlando? There’s much more than just Disney! Here are some of our favorite things to do outside the theme parks:
1) Head over to the Okeeheelee Nature Preserve and take a hike on one of their many trails.
2) Visit the St. Johns River where you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, or simply taking in the scenery.
3) Pack up a picnic and head out to Lake Griffin State Park for a day of boating and hiking through beautiful forests
4) Experience wildlife firsthand at Gatorland- get up close to these iconic Florida animals in their natural habitat.
The city has a thriving nightlife scene
Orlando is often thought of as a tourist destination and little else. But, in reality, there are plenty of things to do here—especially for nightlife lovers. From bars and clubs to concerts and comedy shows, this city has it all. If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just the basics, head over here.
There are plenty of great restaurants to try in Orlando
One of the first things that people notice when they come to Orlando is all of the theme parks and Disney-like attractions. This can be great for some people, but not everyone wants a vacation filled with roller coasters and Mickey Mouse souvenirs. Thankfully, there are plenty of other things you can do in Orlando if you’re looking for something besides amusement parks.
The city has a rich history that is worth exploring
Orlando is one of America’s most popular tourist destinations, and for good reason. With Disney World and Universal Studios, there are some amazing amusement parks that have been taking visitors’ breath away for years. That being said, there’s a lot more to Orlando than what you see on TV.
The city is rich in culture and history, and it’s easy to explore with all of the free walking tours offered.
Orlando is a great place to shop for souvenirs
There is a lot more to Orlando than just being a tourist trap. There are tons of places to shop for souvenirs, especially if you are looking for something with Disney flair. Plus, there are plenty of other things that make this city one of the best in the world.
