The Most Underrated Beach in Europe: Seitan Limania Beach Crete

If you’re looking for the best beaches in Europe, the obvious answer may be Spain, Italy, or Greece – the Mediterranean countries that are home to some of the most picturesque beaches in the world. But if you ask any visitor from outside Europe to name the best beach they’ve ever been to, you’ll find that many include an unlikely member on their list of top three European beaches: Seitan Limania Beach Crete.

General Information
Seitan Limania Beach is the most underrated beach in Europe. It’s located on the north coast of the island of Crete, Greece. With a 5 km coastline and a length of 20km, this beach can be considered to be one of the longest beaches in Europe. The water ranges from light blue to deep blue depending on how deep you go (5-8 feet). The sand is yellow and fine like flour and there are rocks scattered about that give it an edge for snorkeling.

When to go
Located in Greece, the small island of Crete has no shortage of incredible beaches to visit. One lesser-known beach is called Seitan Limania Beach. It’s located on the southwestern edge of the island, not far from Chania Town. This beach is tucked into a sheltered cove and most visitors can only access it by boat because there are no roads leading there. The natural cove itself is partially made up of sandy coves which gradually descend into clear water as you near the bottom.

Where to stay
Seitan Limania is a popular surf destination with pristine waters and inviting waves, but it’s also home to one of the most underrated beaches on the Mediterranean coast. Popular among locals, this natural crescent-shaped beach is ideal for water sports, swimming and snorkeling. There are also options for surfing and hiking nearby.
