California is known for its sunny skies, palm trees, and sandy beaches, which are often the first things that come to mind when you think about the Golden State. If you’re looking to take a little break from city life and spend some time outdoors by the water, look no further than our list of California’s most beautiful beaches! Whether you’re an experienced beachgoer or an everyday office worker who has never had the chance to visit the ocean, these gorgeous spots can provide an escape from your day-to-day routine without requiring too much effort on your part.

Carmel Beach

This Central California beach, just south of Monterrey, is a beauty despite being rather tiny. A charming seaside town complements the beach’s beautiful sand. Snorkelers can take to the water off Carmel Beach to explore kelp forests, sea caves and urchin-covered rocks. Bring your camera because this sandy seashore has amazing sunsets that you won’t want to miss.

Natural Bridges Beach

The centrepiece of a state park that you must see are the stunning rock formations at this Central Coast coastline. These odd shapes have been shaped by erosion, wind, and water over many centuries. It is not uncommon to find seals resting on the rocks, or dolphins in the waves off shore. With easy access from Highway 101, it is a popular destination for locals as well as travelers along California’s coast. There is a $10 day use fee per car which includes parking and entry into the visitor center with exhibits, films, and trails throughout the park.

Coronado Beach

Its eponymous beach, which is on the lovely island of Coronado, is a short drive for visitors staying in San Diego. Here, the sunsets are quite spectacular. The water is calm and refreshing, so it’s perfect for swimming. If you don’t want to do that, there’s plenty of sand to lounge on or play volleyball with your friends! Plus there’s even an ice cream truck nearby to satisfy any cravings you might have. If you’re looking for something different than the usual, head down to Pacific Beach where people can play a round of disc golf or enjoy some tasty treats from one of many restaurants and shops. You can also rent a bike from one of the many bike rentals close by.
