Traveling can be one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll ever have. You see new places, meet new people, learn about other cultures… it can be pretty amazing. But there are some downsides to traveling as well. One downside that many people don’t think about until it’s too late is the fact that traveling alone can be downright dangerous! That’s why I always make sure to pack this one thing before I go anywhere by myself…
I usually use one large packing cube for long-term travel items like underwear, bras and socks. Packing and unpacking are so much easier with them! Packing cubes are also great because you can label each one with the contents inside it (i.e., underwear, shirts, etc.), which saves time when you need to find something quickly. Plus, you can easily see what is left in your suitcase before checking out of a hotel room or Airbnb rental.
My security blanket
I’ve been traveling solo around the world for more than two years and one thing that I never leave home without is my security blanket. It’s a small piece of fabric that was given to me by a friend on my 18th birthday, and it has sentimental value as well as practical use. I wear it around my neck or I wrap it around me in bed at night, just so I don’t feel cold or lonely.
A passport cover is the perfect way to protect your identity while traveling abroad. It not only protects your passport, but also serves as a mini-wallet with slots for your ID and credit cards. Plus, it can help you avoid pickpockets by keeping your wallet in one secure location.
I always make sure to pack some comfy socks when I go on a solo trip. There are so many things you can do in them, like wear them at the airport if your shoes have been taken away, as an extra layer of warmth under your boots if it’s chilly outside, or even just as a pillow. They’re easy to pack and they’ll keep you cozy no matter where you are!
A good book
I don’t leave home without my Kindle. It has all of the books I love and it’s so compact, I can fit it in any bag. Plus, I always have a book with me wherever I go. I just bought Carry On by Rainbow Rowell on my Kindle to read on this trip. It’s a fun YA fantasy novel that will make this flight go by fast!
