The lava that emerged from Mazama’s magma chamber formed this mountain. With a height of 2,723 metres, it bears the name Levi Scott after an early settler from Oregon. The cone is composed of gray andesitic ash, breccia and pumice. When Mount Mazama erupted around 5677 BC, Mount Scott was only 12 kilometers away and suffered significant damage. After the eruption it was left with multiple deep gashes that were caused by pyroclastic flows from eruptions during the initial collapse event. There are many hiking trails in this area for those looking for some outdoor exploration.

Northeast of the city of Medford, 90 miles outside of Klamath Falls, lies the ninth-deepest lake in the world and the deepest lake in the United States. Wizard Island and Phantom Ship, two tiny islands, may be found in the lake. The lake, which encircles the park, provides a variety of leisure activities, including hiking, bicycling, fishing, and cross-country skiing. Here are five reasons to visit this picturesque place 1) It’s quiet: Most people would agree that one reason for visiting is for peace and quiet. And at an elevation of 6,229 feet (1,892 m), that’s not hard to find around here. 2) Sunsets: Every day around sunset there is an awe-inspiring view from one side of the crater rim towards Diamond Peak as the sun descends behind it – depending on how high you are – while on the other side will be views towards Mt.
