Orlando: A Tourist Spot That’s So Much More

When most people think of Orlando, Florida, they automatically think of theme parks and resorts. That’s not wrong; there are plenty of attractions in the area that draw millions of tourists from around the world to Central Florida every year. But Orlando and its surrounding area have so much more to offer than just all-night partying with Mickey Mouse and his friends. If you want to plan a vacation that offers more than just rides and water slides, then you need to check out these awesome things to do in Orlando, FL that aren’t theme park related!

The city of Orlando is so much more than just a tourist spot.
Now that I’ve spent about a year living in Orlando, I can see why it’s so often overlooked by travelers. Sure, we’re a tourist destination—we have the theme parks and plenty of waterparks—but there are so many other aspects to the city that people don’t realize. For example, did you know that Orlando is one of the most culturally diverse cities in America? With over 120 languages spoken, you’ll never run out of new things to do or people to meet! If you’re more into outdoor activities, take a day trip to Winter Park and hike through some beautiful nature trails. And if you love shopping like me then guess what? There are tons of malls! My favorite is Florida Mall because it has everything from Victoria’s Secret to H&M.

Orlando has a rich history that many people are unaware of.
There are a few things that come to mind when you think of Orlando. Theme parks, Disney World, and Universal Studios—those are just the first few. But there is so much more to Orlando than theme parks. Like, so much more! From Walt Disney World’s vast history to the upcoming I-4 Ultimate project, there’s no shortage of things to do in Orlando. Here are just a few examples of what this city has to offer!

In 1965 Walt Disney was given 27,800 acres of land near Bay Lake and was allowed by the state of Florida to create an entertainment complex that would consist of four theme parks.

Some of these include Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Discovery Cove. The city has become more than just a tourist destination with an abundance of things to do for locals as well as visitors alike. One can find great shopping districts such as The Mall at Millenia, Fashion Square Mall, and Altamonte Outlets.

The Mennello Museum of American Folk Art offers a look into American culture with its permanent collection of folk art from across North America as well as changing exhibits.

In conclusion, Orlando is a city that has something for everyone, and is definitely worth a visit.
You can’t walk around downtown Orlando without noticing the theme parks and water parks. And with a slew of family-friendly attractions like Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Islands of Adventure, it’s no wonder that Orlando is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. But what makes Orlando a great place to visit is that you don’t have to venture too far from these attractions to find plenty of other things to do.
