Nashville City Center: A Live Music Lover’s Haven
Nashville’s historic honky tonks, like Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Robert’s Western World and The Stage, are the heart and soul of the country music scene in Music City, but visitors can also find plenty of other spots to enjoy live country music.
The Music Scene
The vibrant music scene in Nashville is one of the most recognizable features of this city. The Ryman Auditorium, home of the Grand Ole Opry, is the most historic and well-known venue for country music in the city. In addition to hosting live musical performances, it also has a museum that showcases some of country music’s most influential artifacts and memorabilia. There are many other smaller clubs scattered throughout Nashville where you can catch a glimpse into what Nashville’s up and coming talent has to offer. Whether you like jazz or indie rock, there is something for everyone at these venues.
The People
Music is a major part of Nashville culture. They have a vibrant music scene with all kinds of venues, whether you’re into country, rock, or classical. Nashville has two music districts – the Broadway district and the Demonbreun Street district – that are filled with live music venues and restaurants. This year, they opened up a new place called City Center which is right in between these two districts. The centerpiece of this development is an amphitheater where people can come see their favorite artist play!
The Venues
The new Nashville City Center is a live music lover’s haven. There are three venues in the city center, each with their own feel and vibe. The Grand Ole Opry House is an historic venue that has been hosting country music since 1925, and it still retains that traditional country feel. It can hold up to 2,000 people for a live show. The Ryman Auditorium is an intimate space that can seat about 2,000 people for a show as well but has a more historic vibe to it. And lastly there is the Ascend Amphitheater which holds up to 12,500 people and hosts some of the biggest acts in country music today like Brad Paisley or Keith Urban.
The Vibe
The city center of Nashville is a live music haven, and with the recent development of the area, it is becoming more and more accessible. One of the most popular venues in the city is Bridgestone Arena, which can hold up to 20,000 people at one time. It’s home to many country music stars including Carrie Underwood. The arena also hosts ice hockey games, circuses, and concerts from well-known artists like Drake and Jay-Z. Another popular venue in Nashville is Grand Ole Opry House. It was built in 1855 and has been hosting live country music for over 50 years now.
