Iconic NBA Arenas: A Guide to Seeing the Best of Basketball

If you’re visiting any of these three iconic NBA arenas, you’re going to get to see some amazing basketball! Most NBA teams play at least half of their home games at these arenas, and they’re consistently full and bustling with excitement when the home team plays. If you’re planning on visiting one of these NBA cities, read on for everything you need to know about these legendary stadiums.

Staples Center, Los Angeles
Staples Center, home to the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, is one of the most iconic NBA arenas. The arena opened in 1999 and has since hosted two Olympic Games, two Grammy Awards ceremonies, and many other events. Staples Center is also a popular venue for concerts such as Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour and U2 360° Tour. Tickets are often sold out months in advance but if you’re lucky enough to find some available seats then you won’t regret making a trip there.

Madison Square Garden, New York City
Every basketball fan needs to experience Madison Square Garden, which is one of the most iconic venues in sports. The building opened its doors for business in 1968 and has been hosting some of basketball’s biggest games ever since. Located at 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, MSG is home to three professional teams from New York (the Knicks, Nets and Liberty) as well as a variety of concerts and other events. If you’re visiting New York City, don’t miss this incredible spot!

Oracle Arena, Oakland
Oracle Arena, or The Roaracle, is home to the Golden State Warriors and is one of my favorite places to see a game. The arena was originally built in 1966 and has been renovated since then. It seats 19,596 people for basketball games, but can also hold up to 20,500 people for concerts or other events. One thing I really like about Oracle Arena is that it’s very close to BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and buses, so getting there is easy. Another great perk about Oracle Arena is that it has an attached shopping mall with lots of stores where you can pick up any last minute souvenirs before heading home!
