Greece’s Lesser-Known Islands: The Perfect Destination for Your Next Vacation

In the last decade, Greece has become a popular vacation destination among vacationers who want to explore Europe. However, many people overlook the country’s lesser-known islands that are perfect destinations for those who want to truly experience Greece on its own terms. The following are three of Greece’s lesser-known islands that you should visit when you come to Greece this summer.

Ikaria

Situated in the Aegean Sea, Ikaria is a Greek island known for its natural beauty, relaxed atmosphere, and therapeutic hot springs. With its sandy beaches, lush forests, and rugged mountains, Ikaria is the perfect place to get away from it all. And with its many restaurants and cafes serving traditional Greek cuisine, you’ll be sure to find something to your taste. What are you waiting for? Pack your bags! There are plenty of other lesser-known islands to explore in Greece too. Try Kythira, located south of Ikaria; Kerkyra (Corfu), located off the coast of mainland Greece; or Sifnos, which is also found in the Aegean Sea near Ikaria. These islands may not be as popular as Santorini or Mykonos but they’re worth exploring nonetheless!

Tinos

The island of Tinos is in the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea. Older names for Tinos included Ophiussa and Hydroessa. Our closest neighbors are Andros, Delos, and Mykonos. With a land area of 194.464 square kilometres and a population of 8,636 at the 2011 census, it is one of the biggest cities in the country. If you’re looking for the vibe of Mykonos without the overcrowding, head to Tinos, the island known for its authentic villages, fresh, local food, and the beauty of its beaches.

With its lush greenery, dramatic cliffs, and sandy beaches, Skopelos is one of Greece’s most beautiful islands. And yet, it remains relatively unknown compared to other Greek islands. That’s part of its charm! Skopelos is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, but the island has a laid-back feel that makes it the perfect place to unwind. If you’re looking for a Greek island vacation that’s off the beaten path, Skopelos is the perfect destination.
