The New York Aquarium is a great place to take the kids. They can learn about all different kinds of sea life and even touch some of the animals. The best part is that it’s right on the beach, so you can make a day of it.
The aquarium is open daily from 10am to 6pm (the last entry is at 5:30), but is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Admission costs $14.95 for adults, $12.95 for seniors over 60, and $9.95 for children 3–11 years old; discount packages and other promotions are available.
The aquarium is located in Marine Park at 2000 Surf Avenue, between West 10th and West 12th Streets. The nearest New York City Subway station is at Stillwell Avenue.
