4 Reasons Why You Need to Visit the Sahara Desert

The Sahara Desert isn’t just one of the largest on Earth, it’s also one of the most diverse and beautiful places you can visit on Earth. Here are four reasons why you need to visit this desert! The Sahara Desert, one of the largest and hottest deserts in the world, spans over 3,000 miles and covers most of Northern Africa. It’s so large, in fact, that it contains about 10% of all the sand in the world! If you’re planning to visit the Sahara Desert soon, you might be wondering why you should even bother to make the trip. I’ve put together a list of four great reasons why you should consider visiting this amazing desert!

Camel Rides

One of the best ways to experience the Sahara is by camel. These dromedary camels are sure-footed and can carry you across the sand for hours. Not to mention, camel rides are incredibly fun and a great way to get around! If you’re feeling adventurous, head out on an overnight camping trip with a local guide. Be prepared to sleep under the stars and wake up with amazing views of sunrise in the desert.

Camping

When most people think of camping, they think of being in the great outdoors, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But what if we told you that there’s a place where you can camp that’s unlike anywhere else in the world? The Sahara Desert is one of those places. It has huge sand dunes as far as the eye can see with no signs of human interference.

One of the best times to experience the Sahara is during sunrise and sunset. The colors that reflect off the sand are simply incredible. And, because the desert is so vast, you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world. If you want to be absolutely stunned by a view, I recommend spending some time at Erg Chebbi Dunes in Morocco. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
One of my favorite spots in Algeria was an abandoned village called Rijl El Kelaa near Béni Abbès, which has been overrun by the sands.
